What is the process for reporting a crime?

Reporting a crime starts with visiting your nearest police station and making a sworn statement (affidavit) detailing the incident. The police will open a docket, investigate, and may make arrests. Complainants should request a case number for follow-ups. Serious crimes may be escalated to the Hawks or other special units.
